Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Gorilla Trekking and Departure.

Your safari guide will pick you up and transport you to Kinigi, where the Volcano National Park headquarters are located. The trip takes around 2-3 hours through gorgeous hilly countryside, confirming why Rwanda is known as “The Land of a Thousand Hills”. At Kinigi offices you will be briefed by a head ranger on the regulations and procedures to be followed when viewing mountain gorillas. Once you’ve completed the briefing, you may begin tracking the gorilla family.
When you locate the gorillas, follow the guides’ directions. Watching mountain gorillas is breathtaking. You could spend hours simply watching the tiny ones roll about and play; however, you only have one hour with these huge apes.
Mountain gorillas are quite lively and interested, and they will often approach you. Once again, when among the gorillas, follow your guide’s advice and remain calm. Never make an abrupt movement.
After gorilla trekking, you will descend into the bush and return to Kigali late in the evening to catch your flight, if it is scheduled for the same day.
