Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Gisenyi.
Your safari guide will pick you up at Kigali International Airport or your Kigali accommodation, brief you about the safari, and then transport you to Gisenyi, on the banks of Lake Kivu, for an overnight stay. When you arrive at the lodge, you will check in and relax before embarking on your hiking adventure.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyiragongo.(Nyiragongo Hiking)
On this day, you begin your trek to the Nyiragongo volcano hike. By 7:00 a.m., you will arrive at the Grande Barriere border crossing, where you will check in with the Virunga tourism office before beginning the scheduled hike at 8:00 a.m. The tourism office is located in the Grande Barriere border post building, just opposite passport control. During check-in, you will get a volcano trek permit and be transferred to the hike’s starting site.
When you arrive at the Kibata ranger post, you will begin the walk up Nyiragongo at approximately 10:00 a.m. The hike takes around 6 hours, depending on your speed and fitness. You can climb in less hours or take longer time. The route passes through wooded regions, lava flows, and open space. You will be able to enjoy the beautiful views of the boiling lava with the crimson light from the crusted lava and take photographs.

Day 3: Descend from Nyiragongo and Departure.
This morning, you begin to descend back to Grande Barriere. Your driver will pick you up and bring you back to Kigali for your departure flight or to your hotel if you have more days within Rwanda.
